Business Lesson of The Week: Don't Cry Over Spilled Milk

Hey Reader,

We're only three full weeks into the year and I've already learned a very valuable lesson. It's actually a lesson I've heard many times before, but never fully understood until now.

Don't cry over spilled milk.

Last Wednesday I hosted my second webinar and while I was nervous in the beginning, I felt really good about it. Everything was prepared and I was all setup and ready to go a full 30 minutes before the start of the webinar.

Now, when I hosted my first webinar back in December I ran into a major issue.

An hour before my webinar was supposed to start, Canva the platform where I create my presentation slides, went down. I couldn't access my presentation or my notes.

So, this time I downloaded my presentation and notes 2 days before my webinar. I was sure nothing could go wrong this time.

Well, you can guess what I'm getting ready to say next. Yes, something went wrong. Very wrong.

The presentation was going great through most of the webinar, but at the very end, when I was just getting ready to pitch my brand new program, I switched over to show the website and my audio cut off.

Worse yet, I didn't know it had cut off, so I was just talking and talking, and no one could hear me.

Ugh, even thinking about it now, I just can't even deal.

My webinar moderator was able to reach my and let me know my audio cut off and I remedied the situation, but not before several people dropped off.

After that I felt frazzled and couldn't seem to reclaim the flow I had earlier in the webinar.

After the webinar ended, I did what I always do, drowned my sorrows in pizza. And as I was sitting there re-living the experience for the hundreth time, something popped in my mind: "Don't cry over spilled milk".

Why? Because you can't unspill milk. The fact of the matter is mistakes happen, tech issues happen, crap happens! And if you're expecting things to go perfectly every time, you're going to be upset -- alot!

I'm going to make more mistakes and missteps. And that's not just okay, it's normal. There's so much fake perfection on social media, we forget that we are human and humans are not perfect, but we're damn good at pretending.

So, cheers to mistakes, mishaps, and spilled milk!

If you're interested in learning more about my new program, The Business Launch Formula, I invite you to go check it out.

I'm offering $300 off the regular price through January 31st. So, if you want the program for a discount you're going to want to sign-up soon.

I hope you all have a fantastic week and I'll chat with you next week!

Hi Reader, Happy Monday! I survived yet another weekend of winter weather in North Carolina. This weekend's weather wasn't nearly as bad as they said it would be. Last weekend did get pretty icy, but this weekend we were supposed to get 3 - 6 inches of snow. We didn't. There's probably a dusting out there. But I'm not complaining. I am grateful that we aren't snowed it. Anyway, I spent the week and weekend making some tweaks to the Business Launch Formula, my new program. I soft launched it a...

Ice formed on a tree branch with berries

Hey Reader, Today is actually Thursday. I usually write these newsletters on Friday, but I wanted to get as much done before the ice storm that was set to hit North Carolina this weekend including editing videos, responding to emails, preparing for podcast interviews (that may not happen if I don't have power), shopping for emergency supplies, filling up the car, and checking that I still had those flashlights I bought 5 years ago during the last winter storm. The goal was to be prepared. The...

Women celebrating and throwing confetti

Hi Reader, Last week was a dozy! It already feels like I'm 6 months into this year already. I had so much work to do, so many videos to film, coffee chats to join, and a podcast to record. I also had to put the finishing touches on my presentation for Wednesday's webinar. Speaking of, have you registered for it yet? You've still got some time. Here's the link: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/1979064741918 Anyway, I digress. As I'm writing this I'm thinking about what I'm going to do on Thursday...
